Last Night in Baseball History April 3rd

Scores in bold.

Brewers (6-1) 1 AT Reds (1-4) 0 – Luis Castillo and Freddy Peralta put on a show. Castillo pitched 7 innings and gave up a run on a hit, but Peralta went 8 scoreless and struck out 11. The teams combined for 5 hits, Manny Pina had the biggest one with an RBI single in the 2nd.

Phillies (4-1) 8 AT Nationals (2-3) 9 – Guess we will have to wait for next year to get a 162-0 team. The Nationals won on a walk-off walk. Juan Soto homered and picked up 3 hits and 3 RBI in the wild win.

Rockies (3-4) 1 AT Rays (5-2) 0 F/11 – Another great pitching duel as neither team scored until the 11th. Charlie Morton pitched 6 scoreless while German Marquez went 7. Chris Iannetta’s first dinger of the year came in the top of the 11th and became the game winner.

White Sox (2-3) 8 AT Indians (2-3) 3 – The Indians offense continues to struggle amidst some injury concerns and Corey Kluber was less than sharp. The White Sox had no such issues as they picked up 8 runs on 13 hits. Leury Garcia had 4 hits and Yoan Moncada homered.

Twins (4-1) 7 AT Royals (2-3) 6 – Willians Astudillo does not walk and he does not strike out, he does get hits though with 3 more last night. The Twins were down 6-3 going into the 6th, but some timely hitting pulled them over Kansas City in the end.

Diamondbacks (3-4) 1 AT Padres (4-3) 4 – The Diamondbacks run of 6 straight games with 5+ runs, came to an end. Manny Machado hit his first bomb in a Padres uniform. The Padres held Arizona to just 1 run. Do yourself a favor and watch the Padres, Fernando Tatis Jr is an incredible athlete.

Tigers (4-3) 2 AT Yankees (2-4) 1 – Matthew Boyd punched out 13 batters in 6 and 1/3rd. The Tigers were held to just 3 hits, but an 8th inning homer by Gordan Beckham put them ahead for good.

Orioles (4-2) 3 AT Blue Jays (3-4) 5 – Randal Grichuk went yard twice for the Jays. Matt Shoemaker had his second consecutive brilliant start, he went 7 scoreless giving up only 2 hits. Trey Mancini homered and drove in 3.

Mets (5-1) 6 AT Marlins (2-5) 4 – Jacob deGrom homered and pitched 7 scoreless with 14 Ks. That would’ve been much funnier last year when he wasn’t getting any run support. The Marlins made it interesting by scoring 4 in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough. There seems to be a lot of homers and more specifically a lot of pitchers hitting homers.

Cardinals (3-3) 5 AT Pirates (1-3) 4 F/10 – Jameson Taillon pitched 7 innings of 1 run ball and it looked like the Pirates were in cruise control. Homers in the 7th and 8th tied it up and the Cards scored 2 in the 10th. The Pirates had bases loaded and scored a run but took the loss.

Cubs (1-4) 4 AT Braves (2-3) 6 – Yet another comeback win late. The Cubs lead 4-2 in the 8th before the Braves scored 4 runs to win. Willson Contreras had 3 hits for the Cubs. Ozzie Albies hit a homer and collected 3 hits.

Astros (2-5) 0 AT Rangers (4-2) 4 – Mike Minor threw 7 scoreless innings and the Astros were shut out. Nomar Mazara went yard for Texas and had an RBI single.

Giants (2-5) 3 AT Dodgers (5-2) 5 – The Dodgers were down 3-2 going into the 7th, but an RBI double by David Freese put them up. Chris Taylor doubled in a run in the 8th to extend the lead. Despite multiple injuries to the pitching, the Dodgers look strong out of the gate.

Red Sox (2-5) 6 AT Athletics (5-4) 3 – Mookie Betts hit a go-ahead double in the 9th and the defending champs got back to winning ways. The Red Sox Bullpen combined for 4 shutout innings giving up just 1 hit. Blake Swihart homered and had 3 hits.
