Last Night in Baseball History April 16th

Red Sox (6-12) 0 AT Yankees (7-9) 8 – James Paxton pitched 8 innings of 2-hit ball and struck out 12 batters. The Yankees entire Lineup contributed at least 1 hit in the blowout.

Pirates (9-6) 5 AT Tigers (8-8) 3 F/10 – Jeimer Candelario tied it up in the bottom of the 9th. Starling Marte won it with a 2-run blast in the 10th. Joe Musgrove continued his hot start, pitching 7 innings and giving up just 2 runs.

Giants (8-10) 7 AT Nationals (7-8) 3 – The Giants banged out 10 hits in their win over Stephen Strasburg. Evan Longoria, Steven Duggar, and Brandon Belt went deep.  

Mets (10-7) 3 AT Phillies (10-6) 14 – The Phillies put up 10 runs in the 1st inning. J.T. Realmuto and Scott Kingery each had 3 hits and 5 RBI.

Cubs (7-9) 4 AT Marlins (4-14) 0 – Jose Quintana had another great start. He pitched 7 scoreless to lead the Cubs. Javier Baez homered and had 3 hits.

Orioles (7-11) 2 AT Rays (13-4) 4 – Tyler Glasnow held the O’s to 2 runs in 7 innings. Avisail Garcia came through with the offense when he homered and had 3 RBI.

Diamondbacks (8-9) 9 AT Braves (9-7) 6 – Max Fried pitched well, but the Bullpen couldn’t hold off the D-backs. Christian Walker had the go-ahead home run in the 9th. The D-backs had 9 runs on 12 hits.

Blue Jays (7-11) 6 AT Twins (8-6) 5 – The Jays scored all their runs in the 6th and 7th and none of them were from the long ball. The Twins scored all 5 of their runs on the long ball, but it wasn’t enough to top the Blue Jays.  

Cardinals (9-8) 4 AT Brewers (12-6) 8 – Christian Yelich continued to terrorize the Cards this year. His 9th homer was a 3-run dinger. Lorenzo Cain’s homer started a 5-run 3rd. Marcell Ozuna hit his 7th of the year in the loss.

Angels (8-9) 0 AT Rangers (9-7) 5 – The night after the 1st complete game of the year, Mike Minor pitched the 2nd. Minor gave up only 3 hits and all 3 were singles. Joey Gallo and Asdrubal Cabrera homered for Texas.

Royals (5-12) 1 AT White Sox (7-9) 5 – Yoan Moncada looks more and more like a star with each game as he mashed 2 homers. Reynaldo Lopez pitched 6 innings of 1-run ball. Yonder Alonso homered and had 4 hits.

Rockies (6-12) 8 AT Padres (11-8) 2 – Jon Gray gave up 1 run in 7 innings. The Rockies scored 5 runs in the first 3 innings. They had 8 runs on 12 hits to back Gray.

Astros (12-5) 9 AT Athletics (10-10) 1 – Collin McHugh shut out the A’s over 6 innings. Alex Bregman hit a grand slam to lead the surging Astros to their 10th straight win.

Indians (10-7) 4 AT Mariners (13-7) 2 – Shane Bieber was sharp over 6 innings. The Indians scored 2 in the 4th and 2 in the 7th. Jay Bruce hit his 8th homer in the loss.

Reds (5-11) 1 AT Dodgers (11-8) 6 – Alex Verdugo had 3 hits and 3 RBI. Kenta Maeda pitched into the 7th and only gave up a run. Joc Pederson homered for his 8th of the year.
