Last Night in Baseball History July 1st

Royals (29-56) 4 AT Blue Jays (32-53) 11 – Freddy Galvis hit 2 homers before the Royals even got on the board and the Blue Jays beat the Royals easily on Canada Day. Randal Grichuk had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Cavan Biggio had 3 hits with 4 RBI. The Blue Jays scored 11 runs on 18 hits and had 4 hitters who had 3 or more hits in the game. Clayton Richard picked up his 1st win of the year allowing 3 runs over 6 innings.

Cubs (45-40) 5 AT Pirates (40-43) 18 – Josh Bell hit 3 jacks on the day as the Pirates cruised past the Cubs. Bell finished with 4 hits and 7 RBI and was joined by Colin Moran and Adam Frazier who each had 5 hits. The Pirates scored 18 runs on 23 hits and only failed to score in one inning in the lopsided win.

Brewers (46-39) 8 AT Reds (38-44) 6 – Keston Hiura went deep in the 5th to start the scoring and Lorenzo Cain homered to begin a 5-run 7th. Christian Yelich hit a 2-run shot for his 30th of the year, on the 1st of July. Eugenio Suarez hit 2 homers and had 3 hits with 4 RBI in the loss. The win was the 3rd in a row for the Brewers who now enjoy a full game lead on the Cubs in the NL Central.

Orioles (24-60) 3 AT Rays (49-36) 6 – Ji-Man Choi and Avisail Garcia hit RBI singles in the 1st to give the Rays a 2-0 lead. The Orioles scored 1 in the 4th and 2 in the 6th to take the lead. Kevin Kiermaier hit a 3-run shot in the bottom half of the inning to give the Rays the lead for good. It was the 3rd straight victory for the Rays who are a win away from 50.

Giants (37-47) 13 AT Padres (42-42) 2 – Jeff Samardzija pitched 8 innings of 2-run ball and the Giants offense was explosive. Evan Longoria, Austin Slater, and Kevin Pillar all went deep as everyone in the Lineup got at least one hit. 5 Giants had multi-hit games as the Giants scored 13 runs on 14 hits in the blowout win.
